- For over 50 years, the Bee and Merriam-Webster have worked together to bring interesting, meaningful words to the best spellers across the country. Merriam-Webster Unabridged is the official dictionary of the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
- National Spelling Bee to return in mostly virtual format Following COVID-19 pandemic safety guidelines, masked competitors in the 75th annual Yuma County Spelling Bee are seated six feet apart in the first four rows on the floor, instead of being seated traditionally side-by-side on stage, inside the Schoening Conference Center at Arizona.
The Consolidated Word List, also published by Scripps and available on the National Spelling Bee website, consists of all words used in the National Bee as far back as 1950. It is organized into three sections: Words Appearing Infrequently, Words Appearing with Moderate Frequency, and Word Appearing Frequently.

Join us VIRTUALLY as we come together for the Tenth Annual National Spanish Spelling Bee. A huge thanks and a pat on the back to Jorge Garcia and the executive board of the Colorado Association for Bilingual Education as they have agreed to host the 2021 event. The group activities will begin with the orientation session on Thursday, July 8, 2021, and will end on Saturday, July 10, 2021.
Registration is now exclusively online and provides you several options for payment. The registration deadline is Friday, July 2, 2021!!!
